The Gold Coast Marathon returned on July 5–6, 2025, offering runners from around the world a chance to compete on one of the world’s most spectacular courses. Stunning coastal scenery, flat wide track, glorious sun. With events catering to all ages and fitness levels and Surfers Paradise on the route, it's an ideal destination for both athletes and spectators.

Surfers Paradise Shines for the 2025 Gold Coast Marathon
Surfers Paradise was buzzing with energy today as thousands of runners took to the streets for the 2025 Gold Coast Marathon — set against the stunning backdrop of the Pacific Ocean.
From elite athletes to everyday joggers, participants filled the roadways as far as the eye could see, creating a colourful moving wave along the sunlit beachfront. The event featured multiple race options — from the full marathon to half marathon, 10km, and fun runs — drawing people of all ages and fitness levels into the spirit of challenge and celebration.
Music, Cheers and Cow Bells
More than just a physical event, today’s marathon was a sensory celebration. Local DJs dropped beats that gave runners a welcome boost, their grooves drifting over the sound of feet on pavement. The crowd played its part too — cheering, clapping, and calling out runners by name as they passed.
One particularly enthusiastic group of spectators brought a touch of novelty to the day with a cow-themed cheerleading setup. Wearing black-and-white cow costumes and waving handmade signs, they rang cow bells and danced with infectious enthusiasm — a highlight for many runners passing by.

A Coastline Course Like No Other
Widely regarded as one of the most scenic marathon routes in the world, the Gold Coast course delivered again this year with pristine ocean views, clear blue skies, and gentle sea breezes. The cool winter conditions were ideal for personal bests, but even for those not chasing time, it was a morning of camaraderie and unforgettable views.
Families, friends, and volunteers lined the streets to support runners, creating an atmosphere of unity and celebration that epitomises the Gold Coast.
A Day to Remember
The scale of the turnout was breathtaking — roads were filled with runners as far as you could see, winding their way past beaches, high-rises and cheering crowds. It was a day where fitness met fun, and the community came together celebrating the physical culture this part of the world is renown for.
Whether you ran, cheered, volunteered or danced in a cow suit, today’s Gold Coast Marathon was a reminder of just how special this coastal city truly is.
