Surfers Paradise is already lighting up ahead of this weekend’s two-day Kidchella festival. On Friday night, the Ferris wheel was spinning early, offering free rides — and it was mostly the grown-ups seizing the chance before the little ones take over the precinct.

A stilt walker stole the show, dressed like an anime hero from the future, complete with a luminous cape, LED lights and a glowing hoop that added a magical edge to the evening. Despite a few showers, spirits were high. This is Surfers Paradise after all — a little rain never stops the fun.

Kidchella promises a weekend packed with family entertainment, music, games and colour. If tonight was anything to go by, it’s going to be one to remember.
