Winter Sunshine and Horsepower on the Esplanade

Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast

There’s something special about winter mornings in Surfers Paradise—mild air, blue skies and golden light bouncing off the Pacific Ocean. Today was one of those perfect Gold Coast mornings. Sitting at a café on the Esplanade, coffee in hand, the beachside parade of automotive art began to roll by.

A low, throaty rumble—the unmistakable sound of classic American muscle. A vintage Corvette Stingray, all curves and chrome, cruised past with the kind of swagger that only a car like that can carry. Moments later, a Bentley coupe slid into view, its quiet sophistication a sharp contrast to the loud character of the Stingray—but equally arresting.

Beach buggies, playful and nostalgic, rolling with carefree charm against the backdrop of sun and surf. These little machines seem made for the Gold Coast, perfectly at home beside bronzed beachgoers and swaying palms.

Something bolder—a burly, classic V8 Falcon coupe with the presence of a heavyweight prizefighter. You don’t just see a car like that—you feel it. The deep exhaust note lingered in the air long after it passed.

A restored vintage Chevy pickup truck followed, proud in its high gloss and chrome. Its boxy frame and gleaming grille felt like a love letter to a bygone era, it burbled on by. It is the low riders that turn the most heads.

The high class style Aston Martin rolled by with quiet confidence, followed by fire-breathing Lamborghini's, vying for attention on the street. Conversation at nearby tables continued, just another morning, this was not a car show. This was just a morning on the Esplanade—Surfers Paradise style.

This stretch of coast is more than sun and sand. It’s a meeting place of lifestyles, a runway for horsepower and heritage, and a stage where even your everyday coffee break can feel like a scene from a movie.
